New builds - residential and commercial
Ensure the insulation is installed right. Upgrade & improve on the minimum requirements and build smarter homes.
When building a new home you have one chance to get it right. Ask your builder to discuss options with us to maximise your investment.
New homes have specified R-value insulation for the thermal envelope. This includes the ceilings, walls and the underfloor (if not a concrete base). We see so many homes designed to only just meet the old thermal requirements (H1) of the New Zealand Building Code. Talk to us to see how your new house can meet the New H1 requirements which are effective from November 2021, and mandatory from July 2023.
Cost effective
By world standards, the NZ Building Code has previously set very low-performance targets for thermal insulation in new homes. We strongly recommend upgrading the R-value of both walls and ceilings to the new requirements which become mandatory from July 2023. These improvements come at minimal additional investment relative to the overall build cost.
This becomes more important as energy costs continue to rise.
The new H1 was released in November 2021. This sees a long-awaited improvement to the minimum energy efficiency requirements of new construction.
